You’re relocating to a home with home security alarms
A new house may come with an installed security system. All the alarms and cameras function well, are hung in the correct places, and are ready to go. In this case, just pick up the phone to call and set up a new service contract. A Vivint installer will still come to your home to ensure there are no compatibility problems, and they could offer suggestions on an upgrade or two. It's a fast visit, and you can have your 24/7 monitoring set up without paying for any new alarms and cameras -- unless you make additions.
The outgoing owners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to your family for a small set-up fee to make your life a snap. If the owners downsize to an apartment complex or smaller home, you keeping the security service might be a part of the sale.
You need to move and bring your home security components with you
You may want to bring along your favorite smart devices with you to your new home when you move. That’s fairly simple to transfer, as modern components are plug and play. You can take down each alarm or camera by yourself or use a Vivint expert to dismantle the system. Then an expert will put in the same components -- and any smart items you need to add -- in your new home. Your home security contract will keep the same.
